Meet Waikinya J.S. Clanton  

Capitol Hill veteran and Canton, Mississippi native, Waikinya J.S. Clanton serves as the Managing and Chief Relationship Expert of the J.Leigh Victoria Group. 

With more than a decade of public service as a trusted advisor to local, state and federal elected officials, Clanton has developed a reputation for successful organizational rebrands. With her most recent success being the reshaping of the Democratic National Committee’s narrative around its relationship with its most reliable voting bloc and leveraging relationships to help develop and elevate the brand of the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women (NOBEL Women) to position it as national impact player among supporters, peer organizations and government entities. 

Clanton currently remains as the Senior Advisor to the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Tom Perez, as the Chairman’s chief advisor and strategist. As Senior Advisor, Clanton has the unique responsibility of managing executive-level political and high-end stakeholder relationships.  In her previous role as Director of African American and Women’s Outreach and Engagement, Clanton created and led the Party’s largely popular engagement and organizing tour for Black women — Seat at the Table, a program which she still manages for the party present day. The highly sought after political strategist and campaign operative was one of the lead operatives on the Party’s electoral victories in Virginia, New Jersey, and Alabama in 2017. 

She serves as a member of the National Social Action Commission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she advises on the organization’s national policy priorities and engagement strategies.  Ms. Clanton also serves as a member of the leadership council and ambassador of the International Black Women’s Public Policy Institute, an alumna of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute’s Political Boot Camp training program as well as an alumna of the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University. 

She serves as a founding Board Member of the Black Millennial Convention, an organization that services the policy of black millennials nationwide and as an Equity Advisor for International Beauty Brand, Sephora. Most recently, Clanton launched the female-centered political web show, Politically Sassy, set to air in March of 2020 on YouTube. She is a proud alumna of Tougaloo College and is also a member of the Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia.
